The Shiiba Village Museum of Folklore and Art Performance was opened in the Spring of 1997. It is under the direction of Dr. Atsushi Nagamatsu. The folk art, performance and lore of Shiiba Village are presented in the context of the four seasons.

Ethnographic materials from other parts of Japan and Asia highlight the village's common bonds with the region as a whole. Museum information panels are printed in English, Japanese and Korean.

For your first visit plan on spending at least two hours exploring the museum. On repeat visits, you might want to explore the museum's multimedia library. Unlike most other museums, this one is constructed to facilitate folk performances, not just to preserve them for posterity.
